We are proud to announce that Erica Morrison, Chief Operating Officer, is celebrating 20 years with the Merlin team! Erica has been integral to the company’s success and has been a consistent, steady contributor to the company through the highs and lows over the past 20 years.
“I can’t thank Erica enough for her work and dedication over the past two decades,” said Steve Jones, Founder and CEO. “Erica is always willing to jump in and learn and do whatever needs to be done. Her personal and professional growth are testaments to what hard work and perseverance can create, and her contributions to this company are immeasurable.”
Erica joined Merlin in 2004 as a receptionist. Young and eager, she set out to learn everything there is to know about the company and the custom home construction business. She also set to work on honing her leadership skills. Her hard work and dedication paid off as she was promoted to Project Manager. During the recession, she stepped up to manage the company’s marketing efforts and her stellar work led to a promotion to Office Manager.
When former partner & CFO Bart Jones retired in 2021, Erica was promoted to Chief Operating Officer and stepped in to assume an ownership/partnership role, a position she held until this year. She has since decided to focus on her responsibilities as COO by handing the partnership reins to Daryl Quick.
Erica manages the daily administrative and operational activities of the company and communicates with our homeowners throughout the building process to ensure a positive experience. She is a proponent of open communication with both clients and employees, encouraging team members to step out of their comfort zones to learn and grow, as she did, and always going above and beyond to provide an extraordinary experience for every client on every project. She describes her role as, “Discovering innovative systems and procedures to allow our team to build one-of-a-kind jewel boxes while managing expectations.”
Erica also brings her enthusiasm to activities outside of the office. She participates in Merlin-sponsored extracurricular activities, such as weekend “bonding” trips to strengthen the relationships she has with her fellow team members and volunteer projects to help the Three Squares Food Bank.
We are proud of all that Erica has accomplished with Merlin and look forward to seeing what she does next!
